Flying into Sittles Airfield now requires PPR for your first visit. This is due to the revised circuit details, noise abatement and the close proximity of two other airfields. Also, the new runways can have associated turbulence, hazards and there are electricity pylons and a bridle path across one of the approaches. A quick look at our Airfield page will give you an idea of some of the challenges to expect.

Contact :-

Richard Morris on 07773777160

The above contact person will give you a short briefing on procedures and runways. After your first visit have a chat with him because if you are both happy then you will not be required to PPR in the future.

PPR is not meant to discourage visitors, on the contrary, it is here to help make your visit safe and enjoyable.

Please abide by this to help ensure everyone's safety. Pilots fly in entirely at their own risk.

Radio frequency 129.825 call sign "SITTLES".

Circuits 800 feet QFE.

Use the A38 as the crosswind leg due to a Model Flying Club near the Fradley South Industrial Estate.

All circuits are to the south of the airfield due to Roddidge Airfield being to the north, but be aware of the Streethay Airstrip which lies to the southwest.

27          Is approached over the farm building roof, be aware of possible sink/lift. The runway drops away as you reach the oak tree on your right hand side. The useable distance is around 400 metres. After take off, turn 20 degrees to the right until you reach the A38.

09          Be aware of turbulence from the woods when the wind is southerly or south westerly. 500 metres tending uphill.

33          Use only when the wind is strong northerly. Tricky approach following the power lines before turning finals where the woods end. Note the NO FLY property on the downwind leg. Also note the STREETHAY AIRFIELD which sits at the point of the crosswind and downwind turn point alongside the A38. There is an offset threshold due to a bridleway running across the strip.

15          Caution, small cottage in line with the runway and by the threshold. Runway has a slight downhill incline.
